Buford Monroe Stallings was born on 16 April 1911, the son of Walter Alexander Stallings and Elizabeth Virginia Cornwell. Husband of Dorothy Ruth Riddle and father of John Wilbert Stallings.

Served on the U.S.S. YMS-478. He was killed in a typhoon off the coast of Japan. He was initially buried at the USAF Cemetery-Jokohoma No. 1 in Japan. Buried at Knoxville National Cemetery, B, 5886
