Carl Bill (Babe) Rose was born in Harolon, Kentucky. He was the son of James E. Rose and Cordelia Engle. He was the brother of Ellsie Rose, Paul Rose, Bernice Rose, Roy Rose, and Jean Rose. He was married to Anna Mae Rose and was the father of Carl Stanley Rose, a son whom he had never seen. Carl worked at Millers Department Store and enlisted on June 4, 1942, in Camp Forrest, TN.

Pvt Rose was returned from Blosville-Carentan, France. He is buried in Knoxville National Cemetery on June 9, 1949 (Section B Plot 6226)

Pvt. Carl Rose, husband of Mrs. Carl Rose, 701 Hiawassee Avenue, has been killed in action in France on June 24. He was with the paratroopers. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Rose, Jellico. His wife and baby boy, whom he has never seen, are staying with the parents at Jellico. He has one brother serving in the Navy, Tom Rose.
