Word of the death of Pvt. Carlie Elmer Perry, reported killed in action in the South Pacific area of war, was received by the father, George Perry of Tennessee, from the War Department recently. The announcement stated that Private Perry died in the line of duty on July 18, but no details of is death were given. Private Perry entered the army in November of 1942 through local Draft Board No. 2, and was twenty-four years old. While in Muncie he lived at 614½ Sout Walnut street and was employed at the Owens-Illinois Glass Company.
