Chester Garfield Floyd was born on 7 June 1923 in Whitwell, Tennessee. He was the son of John Thomas Floyd and Rachel Ellen Harrison.
He was killed in action on 12 January 1945 in Luxembourg. His brother James H. Floyd was killed in action in Germany on April 5, 1945. The remains of both brothers were returned to the US and buried at the Griffith Creek Cemetery in December 1948.
