Pfc. Coleman Gunter was killed in action on November 16, on Leyte, according to a telegram received the past Saturday by his mother, Mrs. Looney Gunter Campbell. Pfc. Gunter was one of the first Greene Countians to volunteer in the service after war was declared. He had been overseas for more than two years. He is survived by his mother, one brother, Oakley Gunter and one sister, Mrs. Lillie Metcalf. He was in the infantry.
