Coy Harris was born 5 April 1921, the son of Lofton Howell Harris and Zara Mathis. He married Frances Aldean Norrell in Russell, Alabama in 1942 and their son Sonnie W. Harris was born in September 1945.

The body of Pfc. Coy Harris, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lofton H. Harris of Spring City, Tenn., will arrive in Spring City Friday Sept. 17. He was killed in Belgium January 17, 1945 at the age of 27. Besides his parents he is survived by a son, William; three brothers, Alvin, Kenneth and Corliss; five sister, Mrs. Homer Short, Mrs. Ruth Short, Mrs. Emmaline Short, Mrs. Eunice Short, all of Hopkinsville, Ky., Miss Mary Harris, Spring City. Funeral will be held at Four Square Church, Spring City. Interment in Spring City Cemetery with full military honors accorded by veterans of World War I and II.
