Edgar Archie Edens was born in Hancock County, Tennessee, the son of Floyd Edens and Martha A. Williams.
He was employed at the Blue Ridge Glass Corp in Kingsport, Tennessee before he entered the service. He had been overseas since March 1943, seeing action in North Africa, Sicily and Italy.
Private First Class Edgar A. Edens was assigned to the 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division. In January 1944 the Division was part of the Anzio landing. The Division was lead element for the breakout from the Anzio Beachhead, the 29th of February.
PFC Edens was killed in action on the 23rd of May 1944. He is interred at Sicily Rome American Cemetery, Nettuno, Italy, plot H, row 6, grave 11.
