Edward Ray Butler was the son of Wallace Butler and Kate Gay McClendon. He entered the service on 15 October 1943 at Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. He was sent to England and later to France after the invasion. He was a member of the medical corps. He was killed in action in France.
