Fred Brady Howell was born in Mitchell, North Carolina. He married Bonnie Louise Kilby in 1933.
He was a former employe of the Tennessee Eastman Corporation. He had been in the service since March, 1942 and the brother of Albert Giliam Howell and Edgar Charles Howell and Mrs. Ralph Watson, all of Erwin, Tenn.

He is memorialized at the Manila American Cemetery, Philippines and at Evergreen Cemetery in Erwin, Unicoi County, TN
