George Robert Donaldson Jr. was born in Morristown, Hamblen County, Tennessee to George Robert Donaldson Sr. and Daisy Trent. He enlisted 19 July 1918 at Washington, D.C. and served with the US Naval Reserve Fleet. He died at the Naval Hospital, Naval Base, Norfolk, Virginia, of Respiratory Disease on 15 October 1918 at the age of 21.
