Private First Class Henry Chester Pruitt was born on October 9, 1927. He enlisted in the United States Army and served with Company D, 1st Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division. He died as a result of a vehicle accident near Naktong Bulge, Changyang, Korea, on September 20, 1950. Pfc. Pruitt was returned to his hometown of Pikeville and was buried at Rigsby Cemetery.
