Herbert Ward was the son of Sterling (Sterl) Ward and Dorothy Carson.
Private First Class Ward was member of Company G, 2nd Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. He was listed as Missing in Action while fighting the enemy in North Korea. He was presumed dead on December 31, 1953. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.

My father Earl D. Ward was his brother. Herbert has 8 niece’s and nephew’s thru my father. We will never give up looking for our uncle. I have watched most of my dad’s brothers and sisters try to find him. I saw my grampa Starl Ward praying every day for the return of Herbert to him and my grandma Dorothy. I never got to meet Herbert but my dad shared some really loving memories of him.– Submitted by Sharon Vagasky
