Private Hugh L. Shubert was from Kingston, Tennessee, the son of Elmer Elias Shubert and Ada Blanche Wells. He was reported Killed in Action during the storming of a beach in Italy on 6 February 1944. Witness stated that he never made it out of the water. His brother Paul D. Shubert was killed while on leave. Their brother, Billy Shubert, was serving in the ETO and was given an honorable discharge as the only surviving son.
