Pfc. Joseph P. Lancaster Jr., 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.P. Lancaster, 423 Bell Avenue, was killed in action in France Sept. 1, according to military information received by his parents. He volunteered for army service prior to the Pearl Harbor attack and went overseas three months ago, where he served with the quartermaster corps in the graves registration secton. A former student at G. Russell Brown School and Northside Junior High School, Pfc. Lancaster was formerly employed by the Tennessee Paper Mills in Chattanooga.
He was survived by a daughter, Miss Phyllis Ann Lancaster, New York; parents and one brother, Burrell Lancaster, Chattanooga; four sisters, Mrs. Edna A. Judkins, Puerto Rico; Mrs. Sallie Joe Chandler, Flintstone, Ga.; Mrs. Katherine Diffie and Miss Barbara Lancaster of Chattanooga.
