James Wiley Caughron was the son of Caswell Layfate Caughron and Mary Ellen Size. His brother Luther Eugene Caughron was also killed during WWII.

Private First Class James W. Caughron was with the 143rd Infantry, 36th Infantry Division.

He is buried at Bethel Cemetery, Jones Cove, Sevier County, TN.

Pfc. James W. Caughron, son of C.L. Caughron of Route 6, Sevierville, died in March as the result of wounds received in France Feb. 25, according to a War Department notice received by his father. Private Caughron’s brother, Luther E. Caughron was killed Oct. 11 in the Palau Islands. Another brother wounded in France Sept. 9 is at Thayer General Hospital in Nashville.
