John Clark “Bill” Brennan was born in Ramsey, Minnesota, the son of Clark Augustin Brennan and Mary Etta Cruzen. He was married to Freda Laura Boyd Spidell and father of John Rex Brennan.
He is memorialized at Manila American Cemetery. He entered the service from Washington. He served on the U.S.S. Idaho, was transferred to the U.S.S. Salt Lake City on 26 April 1940 and transferred to the U.S.S. Pillsbury (227) on 18 November 1940. The USS Pillsbury was sunk by Gun Fire from Japanese Warships in the Java Sea March 1 1942.
