John Dyke Yearwood was born 12 July 1896 in Chuckey, Tennessee to James H. Yearwood and Nancy Adelaide Patterson. He married Ola Rupert on 30 August 1918 in Greene County. He entered the service on 5 September 1918 at Greeneville and trained at Camp Wadsworth in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He died at sea 10 October 1918 of pneumonia. He is buried at Greene County Meadow Creek Cemetery.
