Johnnie Harrison Bailey was the son of John Harrison Bailey and Georgie R. Douglas.
He died of wounds received in the Ruykus Island Group.
Buried at Honolulu Memorial, HI, Plot 0, Grave 184. He was returned from Okinawa Island Cemetery, Ryukyu Retto.

Pfc. Johnnie Bailey, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Bailey of Dandridge, was wounded seriously April 10 in the Ryukus Island group, the War Department recently notified his parents.
Private Bailey landed with infantry forces on an island in the Ryukus group – 365 miles from Japan – on D-Day and helped establish beach heads at Makin in the Gilbert Islands. He also participated in the conquest of Saipan Island. Entering service about three years ago, Bailey has served overseas for more than two years. He took training in South Carolina. He was a farmer prior to entering the service.
