Joseph Arnett was born in 1924 in Tennessee, the son of Lewis Timothy Arnett and Stella Ann Brown.

He was the pilot of a divebomber. Joseph Arnett and a passenger, AOM3c Jack Winslow Burton, crashed in the water at Puget Sound near Whidbey Island, Washington, on a routine training flight on 17 March 1944. Their bodies were never recovered, they were buried at sea.

Joseph Arnett, son of Mrs. Stella Arnett, of South Main Street, Jellico, has been graduated from a Naval Air Training Center, and has been commissioned ensign in the USNR.
