Joseph “Joe” Wheeler Plemons was the son of Spencer Huston Plemons and Nancy Elizabeth “Bettie” Abner. He first married Carrie Miles in 1932. She died 2 days after giving birth to twins in 1935. The twins, Josephine and Joseph Plemons both died when they were 9 months old. He married Edna Imogene Duncan in 1940 and they were the parents of a daughter, Edna Jo.
