The War Department today confirmed the capture by the Japs of Kermit Ward Hodges, metalsmith first class, son of Mrs. Nora Hodges of 2738 Linden Avenue. Metalsmith Hodges was taken prisoner at the fall of Corregidor after the ship on which he was serving was scuttled to prevent its falling into the hands of the Japs,  Mrs. Hodges said. He is being held at Zentsuji. He is a former member of the Etowah High School football team. He has served in the Navy since 1932, when he was recruited by his brother, Walter P. Hodges, then in charge of the Knoxville Navy recruiting office and now in charge of a vessel serving in the Pacific. Another brothers, Seaman Curtis Hodges, is serving in the Navy in the Atlantic.
