Sgt Ivey was a passenger on the U.S.S. Kephart (APD-61) on 14 April 1945. He served on Leyte Island. He is buried at Jackboro City Cemetery, Campbell County, Tennessee.

Sgt. Kleetis C. Ivey,23, will arrive in LaFollette, August 31, and will be taken to Martin Funeral home in Lake City to remain until Saturday when it will be taken to the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jon Ivey, Jacksboro, Route 1. Sergeant Ivey was killed in action June 22, 1945in the Philippines. He was in the 24th Infantry Division. Survivors; parents; three brothers, Bruce and Ben, Caryville; Fred, North Carolina.
