Oscar Miles Stewart was born in Virginia. Son of David Malville Stewart and Harriet Olivia Phillips. He was  killed in Action in France. Sgt Stewart entered the service May 1, 1942 and in January 1943 was married to Sallie Mae Hill.
He is buried at the Rhone American Cemetery, Draguignan (Var), France, A, 5, 7

Oscar is mentioned by Ernie Pyle in his book, Brave Men, page 284, as a tank driver in France. The other tank members are mentioned by name also. Their tank must have been hit on August 26, 1944 after Pyle had talked with them weeks beforehand. Sad day!
