Private First-Class Robert T. Hillard was the son of Joseph Lloyd Hillyard and Ethel Florence Ealy. He enlisted on 6 Oct 1942 at Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. He received further training at Fort Riley in Kansas.

The 60th AIB was in the vicinity of Wallendorf just inside Germany at the junction of the Our and Sauer Rivers facing the 276th Volks Grenadier Division.

Pvt. Hillard is buried at the Lorraine American Cemetery, St. Avold, France, C, 18, 27
