Roy Allen Thompson was born in McMinn County, Tennessee, son of Zachary Taylor Thompson. He enlisted at Athens on 20 June 1916. Cpl Thompson was killed in action on 7 October 1918. Cpl Thompson was initially buried at the American Cemetery, Bony Aisne, France. He is buried at the Arlington National Cemetery, VA, Eur., 1168
