Thurmon (also Thurman) Edward Hawks was born 20 April 1893, Blountville, Tennessee, son of Reuben Edward Hawks and Matilde Jane Lyons. He trained at Fort Dade in Florida, Fort Oglethorpe in Georgia and died of influenza at Camp Eustus, Virginia.
