He was Killed in action in France

He served with the 100th Division, 7th Army. Enlisted March 15, 1944 at Camp Shelby, Mississippi.

Pfc. Walter D. Zimmerman, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. W.L. Zimmerman, Englewood, was killed in action in France, March 15, his relatives have been notified by the War Department. Private Zimmerman, formerly employed by the TVA at Fontana Dam, was in infantryman. He had three brothers also in the Armed Forces. Cpl. James C. Zimmerman, recently granted a discharge; Cpl. William J. Zimmerman with the Marines in the Pacific and Pfc. John H. Zimmerman in Germany.
