William Edwin Neil served on the USS Rowan (DD405). The USS Rowan was torpedoed and sunk in the Mediterranean. William Neil was officially declared dead on 12 September 1944.
Memorialized at Sicily-Rome American Cemetery, Nettuno, Italy. He also has a memorial stone in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Kingsport, TN (Section D).
