William Orel Vaughn was the son of Oren and Artha Vaughn. He attended Alvin C. York Institute in Jamestown, Tn.
Corporal Vaughn was serving with B Company, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Infantry, 199th Infantry Brigade. His tour in Vietnam began on August 29, 1969. He was killed in action in Long Khanh, South Vietnam .
He was returned to his hometown of Jamestown and is buried at Franklin Cemetery, Fentress County, Tennessee. He is honored on Panel 15W, Row 112 of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
I remember listening to his father at family reunions tell about his death in Vietnam. The man was heartbroken and his emotional pain was always apparent. — Submitted by Ken Vaughn
